Lights and Shadow

Taken at the bar inside Cha-Cha Coconuts on top of The Pier in Downtown St. Petersburg. The setting sun outside added to the shadows inside and enhanced the red cast of the lights on the bar interior. The sight was pretty dramatic, I thought.

(P) I took the shot with the flash off and, as usual, had my camera set to auto.

Nature, Structure

A typical weekend in Downtown St. Petersburg. The structure looming over the scene is the right wing of the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club close to The Pier, both of which are historical landmarks of the city.

What does this scene inspire in you?

My first thought was, "I'd love to be up there, too." My thought now: "The world is awesome." :)

Of Dichotomy and Co-Existence

I couldn't help noticing this pair of trees on the side of the trail. I immediately thought of life and death, of yin and yang, of their perfect co-existence. Would you say there's something wrong with this picture?

B for Blue/Bird/Beach... :)

Is this the place to do schoolwork, or what? I spent the day here doing schoolwork with breaks here and there *clears throat* for picture-taking and daydreaming. Hey, can you blame me? It was a great spot, except for the crows, who eventually drove me away with their LOUD and incessant crowing from the tree branches above--not to mention several attempts at stealing my food every time I walked away! And then, of course, there were the seagulls, too. Sheesh... The good news was, I did find another great spot (hard not to do in this place); although, I was pretty distracted to do schoolwork by then. Heheh.

TC05 - "Tide Rises, and the Tide Falls"

This WeeK: "MUSIC" (Guitar, Playing an Instrument, Things that make sounds, iPods, Sheet Music, Noisy Things,...)

Nature always makes the best music for those quiet, reflective moments we all need now and then. Taken at Fort de Soto Park in St. Petersburg, Florida. You can view the photo set in my Picasa Web Album: Beach Walk at Sunrise.

The post's title is borrowed from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, which is worth reflecting on as well:

TIDE RISES, AND THE TIDE FALLS

The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
Along the sea-sands damp and brown
The traveler hastens toward the town,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

Darkness settles on roofs and walls,
But the sea, the sea in darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands
Efface the footprints in the sands.
