Brand New Day

EMPS #75: PEACEFUL PLACES - Let's enjoy a photography assignment this week that celebrates the PEACEFUL PLACES in our lives.

If I have to pick a favorite, meeting the new day with the sunrise is the most peaceful of moments for me. The sunrise never fails to inspire in me a deep sense of hope and beauty--a beautiful reminder that life is good and that every sunrise signals a new day to try again.

The following is an excerpt from Fernando Ortega's uplifting song, On This Good Day. (Click on the link to listen to the song.)
This goody day
It is a gift from You.
The world is turning in its place
because You made it to.
I lift my voice
To sing a song of praise
On this good day.
Welcome to my first EMPS post.

Taking in the View

Taken half-way up toward the Skyline Trail in Chimney Rock, North Carolina. Late October 2009.

For my friends who are into rock climbing, it looks like there's plenty for you to enjoy there as well. :)

Thursday Challenge #2 - Fresh New Day

Sunrise at Fort de Soto Park in St. Petersburg, Florida. In the background is the pier and farther in the horizon is Egmont Key, another state park and wildlife refuge. You can also read more about Fort de Soto here.

Hope and renewal are greatest at sunrise. This photo reminds me of a song by Fernando Ortega, entitled This Good Day.

Here's my favorite excerpt:
That this good day
it is a gift from You.
The world is turning in its place
because You made it to.
I lift my voice
to sing a song of praise
on this good day.
Have a blessed day, everyone!

Outdoor Wednesday #1 - Unexpected Opportunity

Welcome to my first Outdoor Wednesdays post!

Taken in Sonoma, California. The winery wasn't our destination, in fact. My sister and I ended up here, because she had to make a U-turn at the end of the driveway. :D She paused long enough for me to take a picture, and then we went on our merry way to Santa Rosa—well, merry enough; the GPS refused to play nice.

Scenic Sunday #1 - Yosemite National Park

Welcome to my first Scenic Sunday post!

One of my favorite solo trips during my short stay in California is my impulsive visit to Yosemite National Park. These pictures are from that trip from a year ago. Drive down to the Yosemite Valley with me and immerse yourself into the beauty and wonder of the lush landscape.  We're now at the banks of the Merced River.

Well, don't just stand there! :D Pick a stone. Have a seat. Take your shoes off and let the water cool your feet. Then, let the magic of the land wash over you . . .

More on Yosemite National Park:
