Out of the Rain, "In the Moment"
A view from the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum in St. Augustine, FL. January 30, 2010.
One of the things I love about Florida is the worse weather we can expect in the winter is rain. Going out on one-day trips is still a very inviting option against the boredom and lethargy brought about by cold, overcast weekends. My friend and I drove the four-hour trip to St. Augustine from St. Pete this past weekend and had a wonderful time roaming the historic city.
but a new way of seeing things.”

Brand New Day
EMPS #75: PEACEFUL PLACES - Let's enjoy a photography assignment this week that celebrates the PEACEFUL PLACES in our lives.
If I have to pick a favorite, meeting the new day with the sunrise is the most peaceful of moments for me. The sunrise never fails to inspire in me a deep sense of hope and beauty--a beautiful reminder that life is good and that every sunrise signals a new day to try again.
The following is an excerpt from Fernando Ortega's uplifting song, On This Good Day. (Click on the link to listen to the song.)
This goody dayWelcome to my first EMPS post.
It is a gift from You.
The world is turning in its place
because You made it to.
I lift my voice
To sing a song of praise
On this good day.
“One’s destination is never a place,
but a new way of seeing things.”

Of Dichotomy and Co-Existence
I couldn't help noticing this pair of trees on the side of the trail. I immediately thought of life and death, of yin and yang, of their perfect co-existence. Would you say there's something wrong with this picture?

B for Blue/Bird/Beach... :)
Is this the place to do schoolwork, or what? I spent the day here doing schoolwork with breaks here and there *clears throat* for picture-taking and daydreaming. Hey, can you blame me? It was a great spot, except for the crows, who eventually drove me away with their LOUD and incessant crowing from the tree branches above--not to mention several attempts at stealing my food every time I walked away! And then, of course, there were the seagulls, too. Sheesh... The good news was, I did find another great spot (hard not to do in this place); although, I was pretty distracted to do schoolwork by then. Heheh.

Taken half-way up toward the Skyline Trail in Chimney Rock, North Carolina. Late October 2009.
For my friends who are into rock climbing, it looks like there's plenty for you to enjoy there as well. :)
